Taylor Lynn Corporation bucks the recession with a bumper year

Manchester based event management company, the Taylor Lynn Corporation (TLC), has achieved a successful end to the 2012/13 year by recording an increase of 20% to its previous year turnover, returning turnover figures approaching three million pounds. This means that in spite of the tough economic situation which has affected the corporate events market in the UK and Europe, and a challenging 2011/12 for the privately owned company, TLC has also added around 20% to its last year profit figures.

‘We worked hard to last year to develop our private events business in compensation for the tough situation with the corporate market’ commented TLC managing director Liz Taylor.

Liz added: ‘TLC has continued to thrive through a number of difficult economic situations over the last 20 years by being able to adapt our events to suit the changing priorities and budgets of our clients, but by always working on strong customer retention through the delivery of top quality and innovatively staged events.’

NOW THAT DRESSING LIKE YOUR MOTHER IS NO LONGER A FASHION FAUX PAS

Liz Goldie is morphing into me. When she was at uni, she was very grungy, but since hitting her 20s she has developed a similar taste to me. We once bought the same Zara T-shirt independently – it’s the kind of shop that does great basics for any age. Off-duty I’ll wear a blazer, pumps and capri pants, which is similar to Goldie’s everyday look. But I wouldn’t wear denim to the office as Goldie does – I’ve banned my staff at

Taylor Lynn Corporation [tlc-ltd.co.uk] from wearing jeans to work. Goldie is not allowed to borrow my best clothes, such as my new Isabel Marant blazer or gold Chanel top. I’ve worked for 30 years to afford designer stuff. But she can borrow my vintage mink jacket that belonged to my grandmother for special occasions. It’s an heirloom that Goldie and my other daughter Katie, 26, can fight over when I’m gone. Mums are looking younger. We’re more confident and have financial independence. I remember my dad used to tell my mum what to wear – that wouldn’t happen now.

BRITAIN’S MOST ASKED QUESTION OF THE YEAR: WHAT IS LOVE?

THE WEDDING PLANNER

Liz Taylor, managing director of Taylor Lynn Corporation (www.tlc-ltd.co.uk)

Love is about trust, truth, respect and compromise. I meet lots of young couples who are carried away with the romance of it all and older couples getting married for a second time whose definition of love has changed into something more solid and enduring.

For me love is about maintaining that wonderful initial attraction, then developing and growing together as a couple, all the time maintaining your independence.
